Dhakuria is a quiet little place in the
South of Kolkata. On 19th August this little town witnessed a
flutter of activities. A group of children aged 8 – 12 put up a live theatre
performance at the local Councillor’s office.
This performance which focused on the
quality of mid day meals served in schools, attempted to highlight the issues
of poor quality of food served to children in the government run schools.
This initiative was the brain child of CRY volunteers and drew immense applause and praise
from the audience. This performance helped sensitize the audience about the
provisions of Right to Education Act.
The activity will go a long way in creating
the much needed awareness about every child’s right to education.
